* He was 53.
The Alumni

that Mr.

ing of the honor.
At the time of his death, Mr.

fund ' kick off date set
April 15 has been chosen as the official " kick off" date for the Loma Linda Uni
versity Annual Alumni Advancement Fund, according to Floyd L. Wergeland, SM' 32,
chairman of the national advisory committee for the annual giving program.
Fifty geographical chairmen have been appointed by Dr. Wergeland to help co-ordinate
the program across the
United States. In adidtion, 400-
500 agents from the University's
eight schools are being selected
to help in the program. ,
" This is not just another fund
raising project," Dr. Wergeland
says. " This is being coordinated
with the total fund raising pro
gram of the University.
The purpose of the Annual
Alumni Advancement Fund is
to encourage consistent, syste
matic alumni support of the
University. " Alumni from all of
the University's schools will be
joined together in a coordinated
effort to raise funds for special
projects of the University," Dr.
Wergeland states.
" In my opinion, the evolution
of the educational systems in
Riverside and Loma Linda into
a progressive, modern Univer
sity is a tremendous achieve
ment. New avenues of commun
ication, new fields of interest,
must be opened. All 10,000 of us
alumni must become involved,
systematically, so we can be
counted on regularly."

senior vice president for medi
cal affairs at the Leisure World
Foundation in Laguna Hills and
president- elect of the Loma
Linda University School of Med

healing mission.
The appointment of a full-time
La Sierra campus chaplain
has been approved by the
Southeastern California Confer

Serving in much the same

Names of prospects for the

The chaplain's guidance work
will include leadership in re

The University Student- Fac

statement outlining the quali

to fill the needs of students.
This statement will be designed
to help the conference commit

According to an editorial by

in the campus newspaper, The
Criterion, the students support
the decision to approve a cam
