Edgar A. Bristol Photograph Collection
Edgar A. Bristol was born on February 3, 1863 in Pulaski, Michigan, the eldest of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bristol. On March 8, 1888 he married Maude L. Sprague. In 1890 he was ordained a Seventh-day Adventist minister. In 1902 he became the Secretary Treasurer of the Tract Society of the North Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. From 1910 to 1913 he served as President of the Southern Illinois Conference of Seventh-day Adventists; from 1913-1916 President of the Indiana Conference; and in 1917 President of the Southern Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. During the early 1920s he worked as the Business Manager of the Wisconsin Sanitarium before retiring and moving to California in 1930 and residing in Loma Linda. Maude passed away on August 31, 1924. On April 17, 1925, Bristol married Birdie May Jacques Wagner. One son, Ansel, was born to this union. Edgar A. Bristol died on April 9, 1953 in Forest Grove, Oregon ,while visiting his wife’s mother.
